Whew! I've been busy. Between working in the hoop house twice a week and continuing my part time job I've been swamped. But I'm back now with some updates.
Toivo has enlisted me and another intern--Clara Yetter, to begin a blog for Stan Hwyet! Until this point, Stan Hwyet has not had much of a social media/online presence. The blog will be fairly similar to this one as it will be very butterfly house centric, but we've set up the blog page so that it would be very easy for other departments to put their own pages up. I think it is an exciting way for Stan Hwyet to educate and inform outside of the gates.
https://stanhywet.wordpress.com/ this is the link to the homepage of the blog, https://stanhywet.wordpress.com/blog/ and this is the direct link to our specific blog.
So check that blog out as well! we should be posting updates weekly. We're hoping to include interviews with staff, the butterfly supplier, and volunteers, as well as a behind the scenes look at the goings on of the house.
In other news, the exhibit officially opens this coming Saturday! The interior is complete and the exterior just needs mulched! Once planting is completed, Joe and I will begin planning next years butterfly garden as well as the new pollinator garden. I will also begin my volunteer duties in the butterfly house. Expect lots of interactive pictures and stories!
